Institutional Governance & Responsible Academic Practices

AI Practices

Standardizing trust through transparency, fairness, and accountability, we enforce a strict tiered model for Generative AI. Our policy prohibits GenAI in exams while encouraging disclosed use for brainstorming and coding, guided by mandatory syllabus disclosure statements.

Responsible Use of AI in Education & Training

Empowering learning with integrity, this framework integrates ethical AI literacy into academic curricula and faculty development. Aligned with national and UNESCO strategies, it ensures AI serves as a transparent, supportive learning tool with strict human oversight for academic evaluations.

Creation of the FuLafia AI Center

Established by the Senate on July 25, 2024, the FULafia AI Center is the university’s strategic hub for coordinating AI governance, research, and capacity building. It drives ethical innovation under institutional policies to prepare the community for a collaborative, AI-integrated future

Data Security, Safety, and Privacy

Compliant with NDPA and global regulations, we strictly safeguard personal data and research records. Supervised by a Data Protection Officer, we implement end-to-end encryption, multi-factor authentication, and regular audits to protect the university’s digital ecosystem from security breaches.

Artificial Intelligence and Intellectual Property (IP) Rights

This policy defines ownership and commercialization of university-resourced AI innovations. While prohibiting AI from being listed as an author, it establishes an equitable revenue-sharing model (40% to creators) to incentivize ethical research and protect intellectual property rights.

Artificial Intelligence Research, Development, and Collaboration

Advancing global tech leadership, we govern external partnerships with academic, industry, and government bodies. Guided by formal agreements like MoUs and rigorous due diligence, we foster high-quality, interdisciplinary AI research that directly drives local and societal development.

Diversity and Inclusion in the AI Ecosystem

Promoting equitable access for women, persons with disabilities, and underserved communities, we mandate “Equity by Design”. All AI platforms must meet WCAG accessibility standards, and projects must complete AI Inclusion Impact Assessments to eliminate systemic bias.
